The rectory in Neuenkirchen has an eventful and fateful history. From 1650, after the local parish was destroyed several times during the Thirty Years' War, a farmhouse was transferred from Hanshagen to Neuenkirchen and redesigned for the pastor's purposes. The founding of an educational institution for boys was reported in 1811 and the quartering of Swedish colonels in 1813. In 1820 the daughter Alwine was born into the family of Pastor Balthasar.
