On the initiative of the Gerhart Hauptmann Forum, the portrait bust of the young Gerhart Hauptmann has been standing on the church forecourt for a short time.
It was created by the sculptor Ms. Sabina Grzimek and the caster Marc Krepp.
It is supposed to show Hauptmann at the age at which he worked in Erkner.
Intimately connected to the Brandenburg landscape, he wrote “Fasching”, “Bahnwart Thiel” and his first drama “Before Sunrise” here. In his autobiography, Hauptmann wrote that his literary success began and “was completed” in Erkner.
