The small chapel was built in 1696 (Baroque period) on the grounds of the former castle.

Originally, it was dedicated to Saint Ulrich, later to Mary.

In 1625, the St. Ulrich Chapel was moved to the castle ruins on the road to Sigmaringen and built on the foundations of a round tower.
Between 1696 and 1708, it was rebuilt and a brotherhood house, which no longer exists, was added. In 1719, the chapel was consecrated to St. Mary, Our Lady, and has been a place of pilgrimage ever since.
