The neo-Gothic basilica was built in 1905/06 according to a design by Ludwig Becker in collaboration with Wilhelm Sunder-Plassmann. To the north of the extra-wide nave is the choir, enclosed on three sides. In the church tower, to the south of the western aisle, hangs a church bell cast in 1693, which originated from the Old Church.

Some of the church furnishings, such as the choir stalls and kneeler, were purchased. The organ in the gallery has 32 stops on three manuals and a pedal and was built in 1995 by Georges Heintz as Opus 148.
