This road connected Augsburg (Augusta Vindelicorum) with Salzburg (Juvavum) and was an important trade route.
Archaeological finds, including oak posts from a Roman bridge, attest to the existence of this crossing. This bridge facilitated river crossings and was part of a roadside station that offered travelers rest and supplies.
