The Ainos mountain reaches a height of 1,628 meters. The transmission masts on the summit are visible from afar and mark the highest point of the archipelago. The summit area itself is called Megas Soros.
The facilities serve as television and mobile relay stations for the region.
The summit lies in the heart of the Ainos National Park, which was established in 1962 to protect the unique Cephalonian fir.
An asphalt road leads almost directly to the antenna facilities.
