Hiking

The National Christmas Tree has a colorful history and is now a live evergreen tree. Starting in 1923, the trees were decorated for Christmas. The National Christmas Tree has been relocated many times. The Christmas Pageant of Peace brought a living tree in 1973. In February of 2011, the National Christmas tree's trunk broke in a 50 mph wind and was replaced. The tree has been damaged and replaced after that by people climbing it.
