Hiking

These tank casemates that can be found on the side of the road are part of the IJssel line. This line of defense was intended to protect against an invasion by the Soviet Union. The IJssel was to be dammed between Nijmegen and Zwolle. There was also a defensive harbor and artillery in Arnhem. They were built between 1951 and 1954. And the defense system was already obsolete in 1964, and was built back.
