The chapel, which is located on the Zuiderweg, dates from 1927 and was designed by the Groningen architect A.Th. van Elmpt (1866-1953). The church, dedicated to Theresia van Lisieux, was built for the benefit of Catholic workers from Brabant from the sugar factory in Hoogkerk and also for the Catholic residents of this village, who were unable to attend mass in Hoogkerk itself until the construction of the chapel. from wikipedia.
