The chapel was built in 2014/2015 and is a reminder of the former district of Hövelsenne, which had to be abandoned for the expansion of the Senne military training area. Over 130 families, around 800 residents, were evacuated. In addition to the farmsteads, the village center with its church and school also had to be abandoned. The small chapel was rebuilt externally, true to scale of the former church.
