In 1526, Malans was one of the first Graubünden communities to join the Reformation under the leadership of Pastor Ulrich Bolt from Fläsch. In the turmoil of Graubünden, the church had to do without bells for many years due to theft and destruction. Today's chime, which includes five bells, was inaugurated in 1961.
The pneumatic organ dates from 1981.
Six epitaphs of important families, the Planta and Salis, are conspicuous on the vestibule of the church.
