As the Oderbruch was drained between 1753 and 1767, Neulewin emerged as a colonist village with 80 families settled there. The year 1755 is considered the official founding date of the village of Neulewin.
The first memorial stone was erected on July 16, 1905 on the occasion of the 150th anniversary and in honor of Friedrich II. During GDR times, the stone was changed twice before the stone was re-set in 2002 as part of the village renewal. The fencing that can be seen today was built in 2005 as part of the 250th anniversary celebrations.
