If the water level in the Elsenz continues to rise during high water, the inflatable weir installed parallel to the stream is filled with air. Only the amount of water that can be discharged without causing damage within the location without causing flooding is passed on to the underwater in the area of the inflatable weir. Additional amounts of water are discharged via the hose weir into the cascade basin of the Wiesental polder for temporary storage until the flood wave subsides again.
