The building was designed by the famous master builder Johann Conrad Schlaun (1695-1773) and built in 1750 for a canoness from Ascheberg after a great fire in 1748 had destroyed many buildings in Nottuln. The lady was a member of the free-world, aristocratic convent of Nottuln, which was founded at the end of the 9th century and dissolved in 1811.
A curia is a residence of a canoness or canon.

The Aschebergsche Kurie in Nottuln is located in the immediate vicinity of the former collegiate church. An external tour from the street is possible at any time. It is a simple seven-axis building. The only eye-catcher is the portal crowned with a coat of arms. The architect was Johann Conrad Schlaun.
