The Sendero de los Estrechos in Montanejos plunges you into a dramatic landscape where the Mijares River has carved an impressive gorge. You'll walk between cliffs rising over 100 meters, with the river narrowing to just 25 meters in some spots, creating a unique visual experience. The route takes you past spectacular rock formations and pine forests, offering a constant perspective of the river's crystal-clear waters.
This easy hiking trail, 3.1 miles (5.1 km) long with an elevation gain of 221 feet (67 meters), can be completed in approximately 1 hour and 22 minutes, making it accessible for most. It's a well-marked circular route, ideal for a half-day excursion. You can park in Montanejos and begin the hike, and no special permits are required to access the trail.
Beyond the hike, the area is famous for its thermal waters at Fuente de los Baños, where you can take a dip in natural pools with a constant temperature of 25°C. The geology of the place, with the Mijares River as the primary sculptor, is fascinating, and the
