Cycling

The Rothenbach viewpoint is located on an open ridge in the High Vosges, just below the Rothenbachkopf (1316 m). This ridge is part of the historic Route des Crêtes, built during the First World War as a military connecting road between the French positions. Today, it is one of the most panoramic spots in the massif: wide mountain meadows (chaumes), views of the Hohneck, Rainkopf and the Mittlach valley, and a horizon that reaches the Swiss Jura in clear weather. The wind is often strong, the air cool, and the atmosphere typical of the high Vosges: rugged, open, and unspoiled.
