The pretty town chapel Waischenfeld was first mentioned in 1482 and is in its present form from 1699. The Baroque interior comes from the workshop of the Upper Palatinate art joiner and sculptor Doser (1678-1756). The figures on the high altar show the Archangel Michael, the lateral figures Johannes d. Baptist and St. Zeno, as well as God the Father in the extract. The left side altar is dedicated to the Blessed Mother and the right to St. Anthony.

This Waischenfeld church was consecrated to the Archangel Michael - next to Saint Laurentius as co-patron. The name (coming from Hebrew) means "Who is like God?". He is often depicted - on paintings or as a statue - with a flaming sword, and occasionally a lance. Michael is - together with Raphael, Gabriel and Uriel - one of the four archangels who (according to human imagination) occupy the highest rank in the heavenly hierarchy of angelic beings. Their common feast day in the saints calendar is September 29th.
