Cycling

Located in Barkenberg, the "Red Finnish Town" was built in 1976 and consists of four cruciform houses with five terraced floors. A spectacular design by Finnish architects Toivo Korhonen and Lauri Sorainen, it was awarded the "Big Beautiful Building" prize by the Institute for Urban Development Culture-NRW in 2018.

Road cycling

The building ensemble, named after its architects Toivo Korhonen and Lauri Sorainen from Helsinki, consists of cross-shaped buildings plastered in bright red and is named after its architects Toivo Korhonen and Lauri Sorainen. In contrast to most other residential buildings, it is not social housing. The four buildings, which only contain condominiums, are in good condition and were awarded the title of "Big Beautiful Building" in 2018 for successful post-war modernist buildings.

Two more buildings were erected further north because of the great success. Covered with dark natural slate, they are referred to as black Finnstadt.
