The GR34 coastal hiking trail, also known as the "Sentier des Douaniers," runs through this area. In the past, this path featured numerous posts and lodgings of the Douaniers, the historic customs guards. Therefore, along the Breton coast, you often come across signs or buildings referred to as "Douaniers' Houses." Customs houses ("Maisons des Douaniers") were small buildings where the Douaniers lived and worked. From there, they monitored the sea, inspected goods, and tracked down smugglers.
