The "Mainschleifenbahn Volkach" is currently only a tourist train, with a nostalgic rail bus, over a distance of only approx. 10 km. It is only on Sundays and public holidays, and only from May to the end of October. Further information : mainschleifenbahn.de
However, reactivation and modernization was now decided by the Bavarian state parliament in summer 2020 (cost: 14 million euros). From 2026 onwards there will be daily trips from Volkach to Würzburg again.
