    Hiking

Between the Po valley and the Pellice valley, between the provinces of Turin and Cuneo, this peak above 2700 is located right in front of Monviso, and on clear days it is clearly visible from the front. The classic excursion starts from Brich in Crissolo

Embark on the Monte Frioland loop tour in Valle Po, a difficult hike spanning 11.7 miles (18.8 km) with a significant elevation gain of 5061 feet (1543 metres), typically taking 8 hours and 6 minutes. This challenging route starts on an agro-pastoral dirt track, transitions to an ancient mule track through meadows and small woods, and becomes rockier as you ascend. The final push to the summit involves a steep climb along a wide ridge of blocks, rewarding you with direct views of Monviso. You will traverse diverse landscapes, from alpine pastures where you might spot grazing cows, deer, and chamois, to exposed sections offering ample sunshine. The varied terrain ensures a constantly changing and engaging experience.

To tackle this hard hike, you will need very good fitness and sure-footedness, making it best suited for well-trained hikers. The classic starting point is Brich, a small village in Crissolo. The path is often exposed to the sun, so plan your visit to enjoy the surroundings comfortably. During autumn, you might even hear deer bellowing, adding a unique natural element to your journey. Prepare for a full day on the trail, as the duration suggests a substantial commitment.

Monte Frioland is celebrated for its spectacular 360-degree panoramic views from its 2735-meter summit, which is marked by two crosses and large cairns. From this vantage point, you can enjoy an unparalleled perspective of the Monviso massif. On clear days, the expansive vista can stretch to include the Apuan Alps, the Veneto region, the Apennines, Monte Rosa, and Gran Paradiso. The trail's strategic location between the Po and Pellice valleys makes it a prime spot for appreciating the iconic peaks of the region.
