The history of the noble estate of Borstel dates back to the 13th century. The manor house was completed in 1751 and is one of the rare baroque buildings north of the Elbe. Today the manor house houses the library and representative training and conference rooms of the Borstel Research Center - Leibniz Center for Medicine and Biosciences, to which the western medical clinic is affiliated.
