The Ruta del Gollizno immerses you in an Andalusian landscape where history and nature intertwine. You'll hike through the impressive Tajos de la Hoz gorge, following the course of the Velillos River, and marvel at the vast olive groves stretching to the horizon. The highlight is undoubtedly the thrilling Puente Colgante del Gollizno (Gollizno Suspension Bridge), which adds a touch of adventure to this scenic route.
This 9.5-kilometer (5.9 miles) circular route is of moderate difficulty, with an elevation gain of 414 meters (1357 feet) and an estimated duration of 3 hours and 4 minutes. It's ideal for hikers with good physical fitness looking for a varied experience. We recommend avoiding the summer months due to intense heat and planning your visit between mid-September and mid-June to enjoy the best conditions.
Beyond its landscapes, the Ruta del Gollizno offers a journey through time, with the imposing Castillo de Moclín (Moclín Castle) watching from above and ancient watchtowers dotting the horizon. The presence of natural springs and the possibility of spotting the peaks of Sierra Nevada in the distance further enrich this experience, making it one of the most outstanding routes in the province of Granada.
