Hiking
The origins of mining in the Upper Wiesental date back to the Middle Ages in the 13th century. In the Finstergrund mine, the noble metals silver and lead were sought. From 1920 to 1974, mining interest focused on the extraction of fluorite (calcium fluoride). Fluorite is needed in the steel industry, among other things.
The Finstergrund visitor mine is located between Wieden and Utzenfeld. It can be reached via the L123 regional road. Parking spaces, including for buses, are available.

I did the first of the suggested tours on October 25th, 2020, circular route over the inn Knöpflesbrunnen. Unfortunately, the last part of the path through the forest is no longer accessible, it was left to nature. Unfortunately, we couldn't visit the mine anymore. Otherwise, the hike was worth it.
