Saint Hubertus, to whom the church in Nordenau is consecrated, lived from 655 to 727 and is a very popular saint, best known as the patron saint of hunters. A deer with a glowing cross between the antlers is said to have appeared to him, which is often shown on Hubertus portraits. This legend was originally attributed to Saint Eustachius and over time it 'wandered' to Hubertus. His feast day is November 3rd.

Hiking

In 1765, the first house of worship was built in Nordenau. The chapel was built under the castle ruins. In April 1925, the chapel was demolished and a larger church in baroque style was built on the same site. Particularly worth seeing is the richly decorated high altar with many figures.

St. Hubertus Church is a Catholic church and was built in 1925. A chapel from 1765 previously stood below the castle ruins and was the first church in Nordenau. This was demolished and replaced by the baroque work. The altar with its many figures is particularly worth seeing
