The former manor house was built in 1751 as a one-story building. At the end of the war in 1945, the castle served as a German military hospital, as accommodation for the Soviet occupation and as a refugee home. From 1951 to 1991 Schloss Groß Plasten was used as an educational institution for agriculture. But not only school and boarding school are housed here, it is also a community center with a doctor's station, library and children's holiday camp in the summer months.
From 1995 it was a castle hotel.
