The place was mentioned in a document as early as 1265 but is believed to be older. The local church of St. Georg is much older and is probably the most important building in Schulenrode, which is located on a hill.

The particular treasure of the Schulenroder Church is a Gothic winged altar from 1474, which with its detailed sculptures is one of the oldest and most beautiful in the Braunschweiger Land
