The lowest point in Germany is visually not a spectacular, but a very impressive place. It is 3.54 meters below sea level - the water here would be around five meters high at normal flood if the Elbe dyke didn't exist. It becomes even more impressive when you stand in front of the mast with the displays of the storm surge levels at this point. Only then does one really become aware of the elemental forces associated with the Elbe.
