The Bergedorf wood is a park-like urban forest with an old mixed forest population on the eastern edge of the Hamburg metropolitan region. The forest consists mainly of oak and beech, but also coniferous woods such as spruce, pine and Douglas fir. The post-Ice Age valleys that open towards the Bille give the recreational forest an interesting hilly surface structure. Together with the tight and good network of trails, the Bergedorf wood is an ideal area for long walks and short trips.
