In 1886 the chapel was built on the site where a crucifix had previously stood. The founder of the chapel, Joachim Franssen, had been struggling with severe ulcers and promised to build a chapel if he was cured. He was cured and on his behalf the chapel was built and dedicated to St. Job for his protection against ulcers and groans.
