In November 1944, the Doubs Offensive for the liberation of Montbéliard - Héricourt - Belfort and the march to the Rhine will start from Lomont.
The 13-meter monument was inaugurated in 1947.
The pass where it is located, at 796m, is called the Passage de la Douleur and in fact, by bike, you will feel the climb passing, on one side or the other.
