    Pescadero Creek Road Loop

    510m

The Pescadero Creek Road Loop offers a truly diverse touring cycling experience, winding through tranquil rural farmlands before plunging into the cool, dappled light of lush redwood forests. You'll encounter a mix of challenging climbs and exhilarating descents, with the scenery constantly shifting from verdant fields to dramatic coastal views, especially near Pescadero State Beach. This route is a fantastic way to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Planning your visit to this popular Bay Area cycling route is straightforward. While the Pescadero Creek Road Loop can be ridden year-round, spring and fall typically offer the most comfortable weather for cycling. Be mindful that while traffic is generally light, there isn't always a dedicated shoulder, so situational awareness is key. The nearby town of Pescadero provides convenient spots for a break or to grab a bite.

This difficult 27.7-mile (44.6 km) touring cycling route, with its 1681 feet (512 metres) of elevation gain and estimated 2 hours and 48 minutes duration, is a vital artery connecting many other scenic roads in the region. It's often combined with routes like Stage Road or Tunitas Creek Road for even longer, more challenging rides, making it a cornerstone for serious cyclists exploring the Santa Cruz Mountains.
