Castle Rock is a volcanic plug in the middle of Edinburgh that was formed 350 million years ago. On top of the rock is Edinburgh Castle, which dates to the 12th century. From Castle Rock, you are afforded enchanting views over Edinburgh and beyond. It is a tough climb to the summit, which stands at 426 feet (130 metres).
