A popular destination for many school classes was the wooden house of the painter Friedrich Cornils, called Meister Spitzbart, and his wife "Tante Dolly", who lived in their gingerbread house in the forest between Wetzen and Südergellersen after the war from 1945 to 1969 in the beginning of Gellerser. After her husband's death, Aunt Dolly bravely lived on alone here.

Surgellsen. Ok bi Surgellsen hett dat ’n Knusperhüüsken geven. Beid hebbt se an‘n Anfang vun dat 20. Johrhunnert in Lümborg leevt, an’n Wüstenort.

A memorial stone reminds of the "Knusperhäuschen". A bit of a shame that the house no longer stands. Then it would be a little more "fairytale" at this point. A small rest area where you can enjoy the atmosphere in the forest compensates for this.
