The hamlet of Kirbachhof was founded in 1360 as a provostship of the Benedictine Abbey of Odenheim and later became a Cistercian monastery. In 1664, Duke Eberhard III established an animal and pleasure garden and built a hunting lodge. Duke Karl Eugen had the castle demolished in 1750. Since then, grazing has been a centuries-old tradition at Kirbachhof. Until the last century, the farm was managed as a domain by the Duke of Württemberg. After the land reform, Kirbachhof was used by the Cattle Breeders' Association as a pasture for young cattle.
