Presumably on the site of a medieval residential tower belonging to the von Eberstein family, who are important in the region, a moated castle for the von Rosenbach family was built around 1630, surrounded by moats. It was expanded again around 1673. Until the secularization, the complex served the respective noble families as the official residence, from that time preserved detention cells date.
