You'll find yourself hiking through varied landscapes on this moderate loop, which spans 6.1 miles (9.7 km) and climbs 1021 feet (311 metres). Plan for about 2 hours and 56 minutes to complete the journey. The trail takes you from farm tracks and fields up into the open, heather-covered moorland. As you ascend, you'll be treated to wide-ranging views across the Yorkshire Dales. Look out for the historic Rylstone Cross on Rylstone Fell and the striking Cracoe War Memorial atop Cracoe Fell, both offering superb vantage points.
This route is considered moderate to fairly tough, so make sure you have a good level of fitness, especially for the steep climbs towards Cracoe Fell. Be ready for diverse terrain, which can include rocky, muddy, or peaty sections that might be wet underfoot. You can usually find parking near the trailhead in Rylstone village, making it a convenient starting point for your adventure.
