The stone building is located on the so-called "Blaselkogel". The Kogel got its current name from a previous landowner, before that the hill was called "Rauhenpuchel". The stone monument was rediscovered around 1850 by the geographer Anton Becker († 1955). At that time, four man-made terraces could still be seen on the northeast side of the hill, today you can only see two of them.
