Hiking

The complex dates back to the 12th century and has been expanded several times over the years. Particularly impressive are the preserved keep and the Renaissance building with a spiral staircase tower. The castle has been owned by the Teutonic Order since 1522 and was rebuilt in 1574 after its destruction in the Peasants' War in 1525.

Unfortunately, the castle is privately owned and not publicly accessible. Nevertheless, it is a fascinating destination for history enthusiasts and offers an impressive view of the surrounding area.

Stocksberg Castle towers over a southeastern spur of the Heuchelberg. From the hill, you have a spectacular view of the cultural landscape shaped by viticulture, fruit growing, and arable farming. The castle is visible from afar and represents a landmark in the Zabergäu.
The company Layher Liegenschaften GmbH is based in Stocksberg Castle. The company is active in asset and real estate management.
