The botanical garden is very interesting and definitely worth a visit. It is advisable to wear sturdy shoes with good soles, as the paths are sometimes very uneven. There are an incredible number of plants to see – trees, palms, cacti, flowering shrubs and orchids.

Hiking

The park is easily accessible by bus or cable car. On foot, the path from Fucnhal always straight and steep. But for Komootians this should not be a challenge. The road is not busy. Admission is cheap at € 5.50 and you will see a variety of beautiful plants as you stroll through the large park. A small museum shows several animal preparations. For the physical well-being there is a small self-service café. You sit overlooking Funchal at the fruit salad - nice :)
