Also often found in maps just as Panamint, this town was build during the silver and copper rush in 1872 and founded in 1873-74. Today it is part of Death Valley National Park and accessible only by a 7.5 mile hike. It is considered strenuous and just for experienced hikers due to route finding and rough terrain.
You can get there via Surprise Canyon that has even a year-round water source.
