Hiking

The String Chapel - The keystone above the door bears the date 1764, but the chapel is first mentioned in 1554 as "Streich Cäppelin". This has been determined by Ehrenstetten's former pastor Karl Boll. One may assume that here once was a small settlement. The terraced areas on the nearby wooded mountainside suggest agriculture. Perhaps there is also a connection with the medieval mining in Ehrenstettener reason.
