At this rest area you have a wonderful view of Duderstadt and the surrounding area. It is also very quiet here.

Saint Nicholas, Bishop of Myra, to whom the church in Worbis is dedicated, is - alongside Saint Martin - one of the most popular saints of all. Pretty much every child in Germany - and far beyond - knows his memorial day, December 6th. On the eve of this day, children used to put their shoes or boots - which had of course been carefully polished - in front of the door so that Saint Nicholas could fill them with gifts during the night. In more agricultural areas, it was also customary for children to put out a small gift of food for the donkey, Saint Nicholas's mount (according to another tradition, it was a white horse).

The interior is designed in the style of the 19th century. A large number of treasures can be found here, such as the winged altar (1475) from the inventory of the Cistercian monastery destroyed in 1525, the baptismal font from 1723 and the altarpiece on the southern wall of the nave. The valuable window glazing is also magnificent.

the catholic St. Nikolaus town church is part of the historic ensemble on the former Rossmarkt. The construction of the successor to the old Nikolaus chapel, which was demolished due to dilapidation, began in 1756. It was not completed until 150 years later, after the great city fire of 1860 left only the stone walls standing. Due to the different construction phases, different stylistic elements can be found in the church.

Here at Hainbuchenallee stood the former forester's lodge. In 1961 the residents had to leave the forester's lodge. It was demolished. The Hainbuchenallee is protected as a natural monument.

Great bridge. Slight ascent up there from both sides. But in retrospect, great descents on both sides too :)
