Prince Heinrich of Prussia bought the Hemmelmark estate in 1894 as a country estate near his place of employment in Kiel. In 1903/04 he had the current mansion built in the style of English country houses by court architect Ernst von Ihne. The previous building from the early 18th century was demolished. Prince Heinrich, head of the Baltic Sea Naval Station from 1903, lived here until his death in 1929. A Byzantine-style chapel modeled on the mausoleum of Empress Galla Placidia in Ravenna was built as a burial place. It lies on the Feldmark between Hohenstein and Hemmelmark, right next to the Hemmelmark dolmen. The brothers Rudolf and Otto Linnemann created the 23 stained glass windows of the burial chapel. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gut_Hemmelmark
