It is located on the Alabaster Coast on the English Channel, just 50 meters from the cliffs, northeast above Étretat on the Falaise d'Amont. The construction of a Catholic chapel on this site was initiated by Father Père Michel in 1854 and also served as a tribute to sailors lost at sea. It was financed with the help of emerging tourism and the first tourists. The chapel, dedicated to sailors and fishermen, was consecrated on August 6, 1856.
