A lovely place to linger with a historical past. The water contains a lot of iron and tastes like rust, which is nothing more than iron oxide. This is also where the reddish discoloration of the fountain comes from, as well as the color of the sand in the stream next door. However, since most people suffer from iron deficiency anyway, a sip can't hurt. It doesn't taste particularly good, but it doesn't do any harm either. I tried it myself and I'm still alive...

Located in the center of Emmelshausen, the spa park is a popular destination for walkers. For joggers it is more of a stopover, with the soft surface offering a welcome change from the asphalt of the sidewalks.

On a traffic island in Emmelshausen, not far from the train station (the terminus of the Hunsrück Railway), stands this group of figures of an adult and another person who could be a child in terms of size, but is actually a depiction of a bent man. The man standing upright is PETER PIES, the family was "bone menders" (as they were called back then) for several generations. The sculpture was created by Jutta Reiss in 2008.

"The bone-fixer - Mr. Peter Pies and a young patient." Sculpture by the artist Jutta Reiss from 2008 in Emmelshausen The Hunsrück bone-fixer family Pies was a family active in the medical profession in the Hunsrück from the early modern period until the end of the 20th century, whose most famous members became known as chiropractors, i.e. "bone-setters." The family still produces many medical professionals today.

I didn't try the water - after all, it says "not drinking water". What a pity. A little old but shady and OK for a rest.
