The courthouse at Clara-Zetkin-Straße 14 (currently the branch office) dates back to the German Empire. It is a listed brick building from 1894, erected as a district court. From 2018 to 2020, it was extensively renovated (costing approx. 2.85 million euros); the former prison now houses, among other things, the land registry office. Until 2015, there was a branch office at Neues Weg 19. The Malchin branch (since 1998) was dissolved in 2009.

The name „Rote Schule“ comes from the striking red brick building. It was built in 1894/1895 as a town boys' school, and was inaugurated on January 3, 1896. The predecessor was a boys' school that had already been founded in 1736 and stood at Klinkenberg. Due to the city's growth during the foundation period, a new building was decided upon in 1892; the first spade of earth was turned in October 1893. On November 7, 1962, the school was named after the Low German poet Fritz Reuter.

The so-called Zille House used to stand at this spot. Margarete Köhler-Zille (1884–1977) lived there, the daughter of the famous Berlin draftsman, graphic artist, and photographer Heinrich Zille (1858–1929, known as “Pinselheinrich”). There is a bust of Heinrich Zille, an information board, benches, and trees in the square. It commemorates the former resident and the family connection to the artist.

The „Garden of Remembrance“ in Demmin is a memorial site on the banks of the Peene river in the Hanseatic city of Demmin. It commemorates the tragic events of the final days of the war in 1945. At the end of April/beginning of May 1945, Soviet troops occupied Demmin. German soldiers had blown up the bridges over the Peene, Trebel, and Tollense, cutting the city off. Plundering, arson (after Soviet officers were poisoned in a pharmacy), and massive assaults, including numerous rapes, occurred. In panic and despair, hundreds of inhabitants and refugees (primarily women with children) took their own lives – by drowning in the rivers, hanging themselves, poisoning themselves, or by other means. Historians estimate 1,000 to 2,000 deaths (the exact number is unclear, as many refugees were also affected). It is considered one of the largest mass suicides in German history.
