watch out for the cattle grid where the gravel section meets the highway! alternatively you can use the bike/ped underpass 300 m further south (meaning more gravel, also the gravel is now fairly chunky)

unusually middle-of-nowhere for southwestern Finland, southwestern end has the more typical spread-out farms with fields but the northeastern half really is nothing but forest, not much traffic, gently rolling hills, brand new asphalt throughout except for one section of a few km in the middle, basically no services en route

Smooth surface, barely any traffic, simply sublime cycling.

Turuntie is a key regional road running through Southwest Finland, historically connecting Turku with inland towns like Loimaa and further to Tampere. For cyclists, especially those with trekking or cross bikes, it's a practical route with varied scenery - fields, forests, and traditional villages. While parts of the road are busier near larger towns, many stretches are quieter and suitable for touring. If you're heading to places like Reppuniemi Open-Air Museum in Pöytyä, Turuntie offers direct access, but it's best to wear high-visibility clothing and stay alert, particularly on sections without a separate cycle lane.

not much traffic, pretty flat with some sections right next to the river, okay asphalt, part of Hämeen Härkätie (the Tavastia Ox Road), the original road from Turku to Hämeenlinna
