this highway is pretty miserable for cycling in general (if for instance the Strava heatmap makes you think this is a nice and popular route, it’s all from the Saimaa Cycle Tour...) but at least the views over the lake are nice here

not much traffic, rolling hills in the forest, asphalt has plenty of cracks, small potholes and patches, but finding a smooth line isn’t too difficult

great place to start or finish a ride in this general area, pretty quiet roads with typical lakeland scenery in all directions, trains to Helsinki and Kuopio/Oulu every 2–3 hours (but do keep in mind that Pendolino trains don’t carry bikes), summer cafe in the old goods depot

not too much traffic (but it’s a road with a 100 km/h speed limit with no shoulders and Finnish drivers so pay attention...), gently rolling hills, okay asphalt, nice lakeside views in a few places

not too much traffic, gently rolling hills, asphalt varies from (mostly okay) to a section of brand new, fleeting lakeside views in many places plus more so in the north around Hirvensalmi village (a typical roadside path (old asphalt and blind intersections) runs through the village itself, use it or don’t)
