The Mermaid of Möltenort is a well-known sculpture on Möltenort Beach, serving as inspiration for hiking and cycling routes in the region around Möltenort and Heikendorf. It's a local attraction used as a destination for walks and tours. However, it's so inconspicuously small that it's easily overlooked.

I've often seen oystercatchers at this highlight. The view of the Kiel Inner Fjord is fantastic 😉.

Förde hiking trail Bicycle Förde hiking trail Heikendorf The Förde hiking trail always runs along the shore of the Förde, past idyllic harbors, beautiful viewpoints and fine sandy beaches. Enjoy the immediate proximity to the sea by bike or on foot. In Heikendorf, the trail leads directly past the Jägersberg naval ammunition depot, which means that this section can be temporarily closed during ammunition transports. Please find out more from the information boards directly on the Förde hiking trail or from the naval ammunition depot's information hotline on (04343) 494307200. The alternative route leads via Neuheikendorf and Brodersdorf and means an additional distance of around 5-6 km.
